Message costs explained
Replies are free. Pushes are not. Almost every surprise on a LINE bill comes from not knowing which is which.
The distinction
When a customer messages your Official Account, LINE opens a reply window. Anything the bot sends inside that window using the Reply API is free, however many messages it is. Greeting messages to a new friend are free too.
A push is a message you start: a reminder the day before, a restock alert, a broadcast, a campaign. Pushes count against your LINE plan’s monthly quota.
The plans
Communication is ¥0 with 200 push messages. Light is ¥5,000 with 5,000. Both are hard caps — sending simply stops. Standard is ¥15,000 with 30,000 included and per-message overage beyond that.
The exact figures, including the per-message change taking effect on 1 October 2026, live in /data/plans.json and drive the calculator on the pricing page. LINE bills you for this directly; we never mark it up.
How the bots keep it down
- They prefer replying to pushing wherever the reply window is open.
- Reminders are batched into one message per customer per day rather than one per booking.
- Cart recovery sends once per abandoned cart, not a sequence.
- Campaigns go to a segment. Sending to everyone is the single most expensive habit in LINE marketing, and usually the least effective.
Watch it before you send
Every push-generating toggle in the builder shows an estimated monthly message count next to it, and the KPI page shows the running total against your plan. Nothing should ever be a surprise at the end of the month.
